Red Zone Management
recommended reading by Harvard
Business School website
Harvards Working Knowledge website has included the recently
released business book, Red Zone Management as recommended
reading for business leaders. Red Zone Management: Changing
the Rules for Pivotal Times, by Dutch Holland, Ph.D. is
all about helping organizations and leaders maneuver through
tough times. Harvards reviewers said of the book,
Principles for success under Red Zone conditions include practical advice
such as,
"Put the Best Players in the Game." Holland points
out that "if you select your organization's best for
the Red Zone and your key executives are not on that list,...you
may want to do some re-staffing." Red Zone Management
pulls few punches, and its perspective is likely missing
from many a boardroom.
In football, the Red Zone is the last 20 yards on the way to
a touchdown - a "make it or break it" time for a team.
In business, Red Zones are those critical times when companies
face opportunities for a great gain or a great loss. To navigate
through Red Zones, such as strategy changes, mergers, and e-implementations,
companies must shift to a new way of managing. The regular rules
no longer apply. More information on Red Zone Management Principles
plus reviews of the book are available at www.redzonemanagement.com.
Red Zone Management was released November 2001 by Dearborn
Trade, a Kaplan Professional Company. It has been featured on
The CEO Refreshers Top Books of 2001 (www.refresher.com),
thestreet.com and cio.com.
It is currently available in bookstores and online at Amazon
and Barnes & Noble.
